The new Color Lookup adjustments layers in Photoshop CS6 to give different effects to images in a jiffy as its name says is an adjustment layer. Therefore you can use it just as an adjustment layer.
The background of this image has been processed with the Color Lookup layers, while the foreground remains intact.
